could you please sighn this petition so the police could have powers to stop medickly unfit drivers and to have their licence with held whilst the police deal with dvla and investigations.a young girl was killed after OAP DRIVER with very very bad eyesight crashed into a tree but the police could not hold his licence then the next day he nearly killed two blokes on a path by hitting the gas instead of the brake and then later hit this poor girl when he shouldnt of been allowed on the road in the first place.so it is a law to hold a medickly unfit drivers licence so the police can sort out the any details with dvla and a gp.thanks.

How about a petition to get young drivers off the road? There was a young lad a bit back who Killed some old people after mounting the kerb. Shocking stuff.

I dont think they should have their licenses taken away.....but I do think they should make health checks and tests manadatory for over 50s! I no it sounds young but i work with dementia patients and there was a man there 57 years old, completley confused etc STILL driving...well he was till he got admitted to hospital...but it is worrying because when it comes to elderly people you never no who is well and who isnt! and sometimes neither do they...

tests every 5 years for everyone should be compulsary
its shocking you can pass at 17 and not have to be tested again

The driving test isn't a good test of "driving ability" IMO.

Well yea Adam your right.
I know I can drive like a total knob but Limit myself to do it later in the evening. But I know if I took my practical now I would pass it.
I think a medical and resit should could be made the law but it would be impossible to implement. Think how long the waitings are atm for a practical test without that in place. 6-8 weeks?

I think it's a great idea.
People of all ages can be medically unfit though, I think focusing on old people is unnecessary.

gotta agree with compulsory re-testing, not just for the elderly. However im sure it would just mean our pockets were raped over and over!

I think the best thing to do would be a re-test of some description every 10yrs for under 60s, then maybe every 3yrs once you hit 60?
