My D14 used to give me around 75-80 miles to £10 when I was on takeaway deliveries.
That's driving reaaaaaaally steady though!
My turbo on the other hand... Around town it does 19.76mpg according to that website.
SHIT!

What rpm do you tend to shift at?

3000, usually 2500 if im just going on a short journey, but if im on the motorway 4000.. so i dont quite understand why its so bad, cause i really dont rag it!?

Service the car and change your fuel filter too.

So many factors come into play when it comes to MPG. More often then not the main culprit is the driver. If you're generally shifting between 2500-3000rpm you should be returning decent mpg.

Also check your tyre pressures and is you CEL light on?

Petrol BMW engines are useless on fuel btw. Never what they are said to be e.g. 630i is meant to return 31-32mpg combined. You'll be lucky to see 25mpg.

yes i always shift between 2500 and 3000, and if im doing idle (staying at 30mph or 40mph) i wont let it go above 3000. no lights are on ever.. apart from the petrol light LOL!

its only a 1.4 which is literally makin me speachless that i only get 23mpg... (23- mpg = bad, 24-39 = average, 40+ = good).

Are you sure you're calculating it right? How many miles do you get per tank?

Are your tyre pressures right?
Is your tracking correct?
Do you know if the o2 sensors are working properly?
When was it last serviced?
What are the plug gaps?
Does it have new HT leads on it?
Do you stamp on the throttle, change gear at 3000rpm,full throttle, change at 3200rpm,full throttle, change etc?

Have you got 20kg of grit/salt and 12 changes of clothes, shoes and boots in the back of your car (like our lass does)?

I can pretty much guess the answers to all those questions...
If you're wondering if the post above this signature is taking the piss......it probably is!

For the 11teenth billion time...S20 gearbox is 92-95, S40 is 96-2000.
Next person to claim S20 boxes are short ratios gets raped with a brick, ok?

Wonders if anyone actually read the text above this signature...

I use an app called "Road Trip" on my iphone, it tracks my mpg, the price of petrol, expenses and servicing on the car, and road trips done in the car.

you can also have more than one vehicle..

B18C4 in an EG. Im getting around 25 with a splash of vtec here and there..

Though, i need to change the fuel filter, and service it. Also the basemap is making it run rich..

32.03mpg for a H22 not too shabby! Can't see that being majorly accurate though.

of course its accurate...its using two fixed values! (the litres/gallons you've used and the mileage you've covered) My H22 Coupe was getting a good 35mpg!

anyway...OP, something is wrong with your car, i battered fuck out the last tank of fuel in my CR-V (which is a heavy, 2 litre, 4wd) and got 31mpg (45litre tank, 310miles)

i also manage 27mpg out of my Supercharged EP3 (20 litres, 120miles) with day to day driving....but it can drop to like 10-15mpg if i'm caning it

although if i worried about MPG, i wouldn't have a 300bhp car  its just interesting, because i don't know of anything else with a Power:MPG ratio like it!

That's where I come from with cars, you modify it to make it faster. All the other stuff is for scene kids, yeah nice wheels and some small asthetic mods, but some of these things are completley over the top, just to win points within a scene or culture, thats a bit gay IMO and people will only grow out of it with time.

It was the same 10 years ago with the big body kits and clear lights, that was the fashion back then, and this is the fashion right now. Either way, its RICE.

Yeah get what you mean Haggis, I was having a bit of a blonde moment there :picard:

23mpg for a Ej9 is not right at all especially if you are shifting at 3k, pretty sure i got 350+ miles out of our one when driving like that!

I can pretty much guess the answers to all those questions...

tyre pressures i keep meaning to check.
tracking i dont kno but i dont think its right, it like untracks itself if thats possible lol.
o2 sensors im unsure, tink theyre good though.
last service im not sure however probs just over a year.
plug gaps? (spark plugs? replaced yesterday with Bosch power 4s)
HT Leads?
throttle no. change gear at 3000rpm tops. i drive like a granny due to this ridiculous mpg.

ive emptied the car so apart from myself, my bag thats the size of an a5 piece of paper, some spare bacci, filters and rizla and my new number plate. apart from the sub nothing heavy, plus i weigh just under 8 stone so.... no explanations. plus my mpg was shit before i got my sub..

any more questions!? lol

tyre pressures i keep meaning to check. - defo do this....it should be done weekly along with the oil
tracking i dont kno but i dont think its right, it like untracks itself if thats possible lol. - yes it can, especially on our roads, an alignment doesn't cost all that much from your local KwikFit/National
o2 sensors im unsure, tink theyre good though. - you'd probably have an engine management light showing if the o2 was goosed
last service im not sure however probs just over a year - could be due an oil and filter change at the very least, fuel filter too
plug gaps? (spark plugs? replaced yesterday with Bosch power 4s) yeah spark plugs, i'm not sure on how to check plug gaps, i've never actually done it lol
HT Leads? the ingition leads that go from the distributer to the spark plugs...these can decay with age and cause running issues

throttle no. change gear at 3000rpm tops. i drive like a granny due to this ridiculous mpg.

multiquote is fine!

its not about fairness lol....mpg is a state of mind! its easy to get good MPG with a well looked after car and a sensible head on when driving!
