I went to Oludeniz in 2010 and that was very nice. The whole town is just a holiday town so in the winter nobody is there. There's all sorts of bars, etc. Loads of things to do there like paragliding, boat trips, etc. I was a pussy and stayed inside during most of the day tho lol. Couldn't deal with it being 50 degrees with no wind and no cloud lol!
Plus if you fancied a night of getting utterly mashed and clubbing then a short Taxi ride will take you to this party town (kind of reminds me of Malaga, Tenerife, Magaluf, etc). It's that kind of town lol...
Have a look online for hotels in Oludeniz. Parents paid for me to go so I don't know how much it was lol.

I caught the cleaner (who was old enough to be my mum...a little creepy...) looking through my drawers.
The night before that I was in my room sitting naked on the bed watching tv and drinking a beer (like ya do) and the cleaner just walks straight in and starts cleaning... O_O
I guess it all depends where you stay at the end of the day...

Stayed in the Fethiye region near Olu Deniz at the St Nicolas Heights hotel:

We got a free upgrade to a top floor, hot tub included room which was pretty much like our own apartment for 2 weeks. Was lovely, no kids hotel too!!!! Made so much difference to the experience.

I passed through Turkey whilst on my travels during the gap yah'. I'm glad I went as it was a real experience. Met some beautiful, lovely, and extremely fucked up people.
Istanbul is the obvious place to go, but not for Beaches, Bars, and exotic walks. Anatalya, Marmaris, Bodrum are some of the places I went to after meeting a girl out there and going on on Holiday with her and her friends. Marmaris had nice beaches and was the most modern of all the Beach towns. It was however also full of English people; not the obvious reason I left England to go traveling.
Marmaris was pleasant, a kind of cross between The Inbetweeners movie and Casablanca. Some of the people I met there paid less than £360 all inclusive through Thomas Cook. The hotels they set you up with aren't necessarily anywhere near the beaches or bars, so be careful where you book just to make sure you get a good location (try to get a map of the place you're visiting and pick hotel based on location as well as star rating). It's a bit club med if that's your thing, ultimately I can't recommend the place as somewhere I'd go with a female companion (I actually got into a fight with a guy that told the girls I was with not to go out with an English guy and tried to force himself on one of them), but I had fun out there. I'd go again.
Bodrum was nice, seemed a bit more Mediterranean. It's also home to the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the seven ancient wonders of the world. But if you wanted to see that, tough luck as they won't let you into the site anymore (it was shit anyway). Probably somewhere I'd take the misses to over Marmaris, but each to their own. If you can choose the hotel, in both places, try to get somewhere as close to the beach as possible.

I was at Lara beach for a night or two and had a great time (albeit at the expense of someone's boyfriend). I sadly can't remember much about the place but I'm sure eg6boy1986 knows what he's talking about.

Every 30 seconds you get "You want a shave mate?" shouted at you by some cut throat shop owner.
A barman picked up my (at the time) girlfriends mobile phone from our table and walked off with it. Then fucked about for 20 minutes suddenly forgetting the perfect english he was speaking when taking our orders. Got it back in the end but what a fucking PITA.
The "market" is a complete waste of time, regardless of the bullshit the holiday reps will feed you. The merchandise is laughably bad. It is also full of theives and pickpockets. For the love of god don't take your wallet out in public!
It's also full of fat, chavvy english couples - beer guts and "ENG-ER-LAAAAND" prison tattoo's everywhere. Exactly what I wanted not to see, seriously it was more pikey than the town I left behind in England.
Infact the only thing I can say about Marmaris that I enjoyed was the food and the ferry back to Greece!

I suppose I was fortunate to not have had those experiences, maybe it has changed somewhat since I was there. I guess I won't be going there again.

It was amazing, we didnt leave the resort once, there was plenty of things to do and the food was spot on. You can have a proper relaxing holiday by the pool or the beach, or you can do all the water sports they offer so it suits everyone. We didnt get any problems, the room was great and they treat you like royalty. We're going back again for our next holiday whenever that is, so i really recommend it!
Just to add we got a transfer straight from the airport to the hotel so we didnt experience any of the problems mentioned above
