They seem to be well dressed and are usually holding what looks like trade plates or a sign (not a cardboard hitch hikers thing)
What are these people actually doing? Collecting a car, getting a lift?
Just saw one off the m5 in Somerset, and a traffic cop was just pulling up to have a chat.

They deliver new car's to people then they have to find there own way back to where they came from

Have alot of this round my end because of the docks.
They get paid a set travel expense to go and collect a car, deliver it then make their way back to deliver another, but if they can thumb a lift for free they quids in!

Lol me and my mate picked one of these guys up and gave him lift to leeds. Guy had just delivered a Prius. Was a pretty sounds guy. I wouldn't of done it if i was on my own though haha.

As said, they are paid to deliver cars, given a train/bus fare home but prefer to try to bum it back and keep the travel expenses money.
I'd rather get the train and not be murdered by a lorry driver personally but each to their own..
