Hi people

I am sorry to bring this unfortunate news to you all, but due to the expensive monthly bills that I am having to fork out for to keep CivicLife running, I am no longer able to afford to keep paying as it is breaking my bank account. The donations that have been recieved so far have helped the last few months, but that money has gone now and donations have slowed down to a mear halt.

Traders are currently paying a small amount each month to help cover the costs, but that barely comes to half the amount needed every month. As I mentioned previously, I have spent well over £6000 on CivicLife running costs alone since we started back in late 2004. I just can't afford to cover it anymore

I have re-setup the donations system, so it shows a new goal every month. That goal is £220, which will cover the monthly running costs. As you can see at the moment, there is no donations towards this as of yet. It would be great to see people contributing money to help save your favourite site, if we don't get enough money then we will have to close the site down. I never thought I would say this, but it has got to that point where I really cant afford to put any more money into it.

Please help people, all contributions are greatly appreciated

paid membership is the only way this will work tbh, 2 sqwid a month from everyone is very little and will easily cover the cost. we have enough active users combined with traders etc.

Introduce paid membership and give paid members extra priledges i.e. the ability to sell, have avatars etc etc

What about a small charge for advertising a car you are selling?
Say £3 or something, every penny counts right....

There must be something out there that you havent tried to raise funds.
Why dont you start a thread in the lounge to promote a brainstorm of members ideas to help move forward.

I really cant believe the fee you mentioned that the traders pay is all they are charged, they must make an absolute bomb off the back of this site !!
It would suck so bad to see the site close now.
The Honda scene has grown massively in the years ive been part of it.
And now there is even a Magazine being published Just for the Cars we love !!

This just sucks so bad, im just completely gutted.

Even though the driver errors annoy me, i dont want to see civiclife die.. how will Mimm's be organised, local meets, buying and selling parts, not forgetting the whole UK Honda Community.. it just cant come to an end guys.

Paid membership would be good.
£10 a year and it entitles you to selling rights on this forum.
You will only need 270 paid members to cover your expenses for the year.

At the end of the day, people just come on here, use a couple features, read some threads, update their build and are done with it. I have never once used the bottom task bar, rarely use the status update thing and other new features that have come in.

And why would paying for it kill it? Not paying would kill the current Honda Scene off completely.

I dont really want that to happen, and neither do any one else.

The influx of new comers will almost halt, unless they have been into the scene for some time.
Why pay to come on civiclife when you can go ans surf so many other Honda sites/forums for free.
All that will happen is that one of the other uk Honda/Civic forums will become shit busy, as the majority of current members on here will go and register and use that instead.

People will pay for an advert when they need to sell something that will make them a substantial amount of cash, as they know they will see the return.
